News from the Iris Society of Austin

Don and Pat Freeman and Charlie and Sonja Hensley waltzed away with Silver and Bronze Medals respectively from the 23rd accredited Iris Society of Austin Show, "Dancing in an Iris Garden", open to the public from 1p.m. – 4p.m. on Easter Sunday.

The Freemans entered the irises receiving the most blue ribbons in the Horticulture Division, where Tony Sheridan and his daughter Tiffany showed the Best Specimen named 'Thornbird,' which was Best Blend, Best Tall-Bearded, and Best Space Age Iris. Runner-Up was 'Dandelite,' a Spuria named the Best Yellow grown by Don and Pat Freeman.  

Katherine Abel, a Youth Member, entered the Best Purple Iris called 'Dark Watch.'

In the Artistic Division Pat Freeman won the Best Design Award, while Nelda Moore captured Artistic Sweepstakes.
